For professionals evaluating TXscribe for confidential or privileged material — legal, medical, journalism, and research.

TXscribe is a Windows desktop application that turns audio and video into text. Its defining property, and the reason it suits sensitive work, is simple: transcription runs entirely on your own computer. Your recordings and transcripts are never uploaded to us or to any third party.

What happens on your machine

The speech model runs locally on your CPU/GPU. Your audio is processed on-device and never leaves it.
No account, no sign-in. We never receive your files, their names, or their contents.
Transcripts are written to your disk, beside your files — you control retention and deletion.
After setup, TXscribe transcribes fully offline — you can disconnect from the network and it still works.

What touches the internet (and what doesn't)

In the interest of full transparency, here is every time TXscribe uses the network. None of these transmit your audio or transcripts.

Model download

Once, on first run, TXscribe downloads the open-source speech model (~1.5 GB) from a public host. After that it's cached locally and never re-fetched.

License check

Your license key is verified offline using cryptography (Ed25519). Optional online activation only sends an anonymous device identifier and your order id — never your files.

Update check

TXscribe checks for a newer version and downloads updates that are cryptographically signed and verified before installing. You can decline.

Your audio / transcripts

Never transmitted

You can verify this independently: run TXscribe with a network monitor, or simply disconnect from the internet and confirm transcription still completes.

Suitability for privileged & confidential work

Because content is processed locally and never disclosed to a third-party service, TXscribe avoids the core concern with cloud transcription tools — that privileged or confidential audio is transmitted to and stored by an outside vendor. This makes it well-suited to attorney work product and client communications, patient or clinical recordings, and journalist source material.

TXscribe is a tool, not a compliance program. You remain responsible for your own device security, storage, retention, and any professional or regulatory obligations that apply to your work. We recommend your own assessment against your specific requirements.

Notes for IT / deployment

Standard Windows 10/11 (64-bit) installer. No server, no inbound connections, no background telemetry of your content.
Runs offline; suitable for air-gapped or restricted machines after the one-time model download (which can be performed once and copied).
Updates and license keys are cryptographically signed and verified.
As a newer independent app, the installer may show a Windows SmartScreen prompt on first run (choose More info → Run anyway). Managed environments can allow-list it.
